For those of you that don’t already know I’m heading to Sea Wheeze this week. This will be my second time doing the Sea Wheeze, my first was the inaugural year in 2012. I loved the lulu atmosphere and all the likeminded runners hitting the pavement together in one of my favourite Canadian cities. I’m really looking forward to doing it again, I was very sad when I couldn’t make it last year. That said I’m going to do my best to post while I’m there and share in all the fun with you all - so stay tuned Friday to Sunday for all the fun.
Oh and on another super exciting note I’ve also signed up for the Disneyland Tinkerbell half marathon in May 2015… I’m so excited for this race I can’t even begin to tell you. Since I started half marathon running doing a disney race has been all I’ve ever wanted to do. This one is going to be a little on the rough side training wise since where I live we can still have several feet of snow in May so my training might be on cross country skis or a treadmill but I don’t even care I’m just so excited to be finally doing one!! Yay!
Sorry, I’ve been off the grid – needed to focus on me for a while. Honestly, those of you who blog know how draining it can be. Not to mention I got a bit tired of walking into lulu every other day to try on clothing I didn’t want to buy. That said I was approached by YOGASMOGA to review some clothing from their new line and I thought that this would be a nice way to start off a summer of blogging. I do have a couple other reviews of other non-lulu gear (not all clothing – some tech too) in the works as well – so keep an eye on the site.
This is a no-support racerback style tank. The fabric is thicker and more substantial then lulu has been recently – but overall feels a lot like a think luon. I tested it out at, yoga, aerial silks and while running. One nice thing for aerials/yoga is that the neckline is slightly higher then the lulu CRBs and therefore when inverted I wasn’t always exposing my sports bra to the rest of the gym like I tend to in my lulu (thank goodness for nice sports bras is all I can say). It is cut a little shorter then lulu’s current racerbacks, I’m 5’4” and I thought the length was good for me (I really dislike short cut tops). In all my activities the top stayed in place well and I always felt covered but not too hot. My hot yoga class was VERY hot so I can say for sure that the fabric wicks well – I was still drenched by the end of class but I wasn’t uncomfortable. As for running my preference is for a lighter weight fabric like the swiftlys but this top was comfortable and the seams were soft and nothing bothered me while running, which is a win. Note that YogaSmoga seems to have figured out my favorite color is purple – nice clothing and psychic – good deal.
They sent me these crops in basic black – which is perfect. They feel the same as the Yantra Tank above fabric wise, which again is like a thicker luon. They are comfortable and flat seemed. I wasn’t able to do anything other then yoga in them, the length is inappropriate for aerial silks (I already have plenty of ankle fabric burns, thankyouverymuch) and the temperature here was swinging from very cold to so hot I didn’t want to wear crops. But I did do some hot yoga in them, which was great. I made sure to get a spot in a corner so I would have mirrors on two sides of me so I could check for sheerness while I was yoga-ing, I didn’t notice any. I was a little disappointed at first that the inside waistband pocket didn’t have a top flap on it and therefore anything you put in it could fall out during inversions, but I was very pleased to find that the outside waistband has a pocket in one of the little detail folds (pictured below) so there are actually 2 pockets in these crops one has an open top and the other is a bit more secure. I love the little slit at the bottom hem of each leg and the little details in the waistband – they add a lot to basic black crops.
YOGASMOGA is also running a really awesome campaign to win some SMOGI Bucks!
Contest ends May 31,2014. We will select a winner on June 1, 2014. The winner will be picked randomly.
Love the Ebb To Street tank - the fit is really nice and the ribbed fabric is really soft and comfortable. It fits a little tight though the hips so I thought I would try and size 8 but then the bra was too loose for my to be able to wear it to yoga.
Size 8 (L) vs 6 (R):
And there was a major change to the bra inserts not sure if this is going to be in more then just this tank yet:
So I absolutely love everything about this vest - save for the pockets. No zippers, so they just gape open - what’s up with that. I think this would be great for skiing this winter and I love it over my new Full Tilt pullover but the pockets are really strange to me. But it’s cozy and wind resistant and a rule lining to boot. Fit is TTS.
This is a re-make of the top by the same name from last year. This year has some improvements - the cut is longer and the boatneck is less pronounced - which are all good changes. And I LOVE the Plum Hyperstripe. Fit is still TTS.
Loved this tank, it’s nice and soft rulu (though not a soft as rulu has been in the past) and the cut is really flattering and I still love all these colors in the stripe pattern. I would like more of a carved out racerback look on the back. Fit is TTS.
I really LOVED this shirt. The fabric is lovely and drapes great. It’s major down fall is the front has a rounded cut and the back has a square cut to it and they just don’t look right together. The same cut for the front and the back would have been better - preferably with the square cut like the back side. I would have loved to buy this if the bottom hem was better. Fit is TTS.
They didn’t have a size 6 out for me to try (just 4’s and 10’s) so this is too small. I’d need a 6 in this forsure. I really like the fit and the cut of the jacket, fabric is nice and the liner is soft. Lots of ways to wear the collar. Fit is TTS or size up if you need more shoulder room. Not sure that I like the back flap but I think it would fall better if the jacket was the right size.
The Trouser Pant isn’t really my style, I’m not really sure what or where you wear these. They are made from very soft luon and they fit a full size small. The pockets got really bunched when I put them on and it was pretty obvious through the fabric.
The Rest Less Tank is cute, it’s another play on the No Limit Tank that so many people love/covet. This one has a power luxtreme bra with a Silverescent loose body. It has a draw string to cinch the waist/hip area. I’m not sure how keen I am on the drape of this compared to other similar items though. Fit is TTS.
I was pretty stocked to see a plum vest come out. But this one was a little disappointing to me. Maybe my vest standards are a little high. I have the POM vest from a few years ago and that vest uses a super thick and soft swift fabric with lots of down/loft. This vest in comparison has thin slippery fabric and not a lot of filling - which is good if you want a slimmer profile. Lots of people were saying that they had to size up in this item. I grabbed a 6 which is my TTS and it fit fine with room to spare. My POM vest is a 4 though (and I can fit a scuba hoodie under it) so I guess it depends what your point of comparison is.
This is a similar look/function jacket to the Stride/In Stride/Daily Yoga Jackets. Fit is TTS or size down. They are luon, with thumbholes and 2 zip pockets. They fit long in the body, silver plastic zippers and have a high neck. Love the plum <3
I’m always drawn to the burnout fabrics despite the fact that I have sworn them off (too delicate). This is a very long top, you could were it as a tunic over tights with a nice belt, or you can scrunch it up over your hips and make it look shorter. Fit is TTS.
The Can’t Stop Jacket is super warm - it has a few layers and feels very substantial and cozy (rulu)… I think it would be a bit hot for running this time of year though. It’s wind/water resistant in some spots (lighter colored areas). Fit is TTS.
The Skinny Will pant have more of a straight cut then the Wunder Unders but are a lot more busy with the super high rise, draw string, and the pockets. They are cute and the mini check or herringbone fabric is beautiful - but I think I’ll stick to WUs.
I’m a big fan of these pants and I’ve reviewed them a few times now - I just wanted to try on the plum one. I’ve already got the Plum High Lo Wunder Unders so I don’t really need a second plum pair but I do really love these - maybe if they are not sold out in store in a couple weeks I can get them for my birthday.
I really love my Stuff Your Bra tank from last summer so I thought I would try this to compare. The torso portion is straight cut, last summers version was loose and flowy with a grip hem - so that is new. It fits about the same in the bust - i.e. size up cuz she runs small. I have an 8 from last year and I would get the 8 again. They changes the cut of the back a little too but really nothing that effects the fit. Overall, it’s a cute tank… Just don’t overstuff ;)
Wow, I like nothing about this tank. I found the fit really strange - like the neck line is to wide and it digs in really odd front and back. The fabric is sticky, thin and not at all soft. The color and the length is about all this has going for it. I can’t really say if the fit is TTS or not based on my time trying it on.
